History

Dr. Paul Newman the founder of the Color Museum grew up in Lakewood California as the second oldest of five children. He was a comical young man who would make jokes all the time, especially on his younger siblings.

Newman found an appreciation for art at a young age. He took several classes and became very well, however when it came time to pursue a career he decided to learn a trade that he could easily turn into a successful profession.

Newman completed his undergraduate education at the University of Arizona in Electrical Engineering.
He worked in the industry for a while specializing in creating back up systems when there are power outages. Newman then received his Masters and PhD in Engineering from the UCSD.

Newman married an artist and moved to Long Beach California. He became the CEO of his own company Novene International that became very successful and had two beautiful daughters. Like everything in life, the good comes with the bad.

Several years ago his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. The simple carefree comfort of life was being ripped out beneath their feet. When she passed away November 4, 2002. Mr. Newman thought all hope was lost. Him and his daughters were left devastated in the middle of their lives not knowing where to turn.

A year later Newman was cleaning out the garage and looking at some of the paintings his wife had done in a new light. He decided that he wanted to share these paintings with the world so that she will be forever seen through them. Newman started the foundation late 2004 for the museum project.

Being an engineer, and admirer of art himself he decided to do some research about art and became fascinated with the dynamics of color and the project grew from a simple museum to an interactive learning center that provides knowledge and inspiration for everyone who enters. The Color Museum opened July 5, 2009 and has been an expression of life ever since.
